Sustainability: Responsibility or Marketing Spin?

As Diwali approaches, brands are painting a picture of “green” and “eco-friendly” choices, but are these claims real?

Let’s talk diamonds and an advertisement in the Delhi Times which got me thinking.

Natural diamonds are still being promoted as the ultimate symbol of luxury, even though mining them leaves a massive environmental and social footprint. Ecosystems are disrupted, water is wasted, and communities pay the price for these so-called “precious” stones.

Should we be proud to own something that costs the planet so much?

There’s a better alternative: lab-grown diamonds. They’re identical in beauty and quality but made sustainably, without damaging our planet or exploiting communities. This Diwali, let’s make conscious choices that align with true sustainability, not just a marketing story.

Sustainability is a responsibility to humanity and our planet – not a sales tactic.

Stay conscious, stay sustainable this Diwali.
